I suspecting that Movenetworks did something to it so that it won't work in Virtualbox or VMWare so that linux users won't use it. I remember that older versions of VirtualBox used to work fine with Movenetworks media player.
I changed the VirtualBox network card emulation to 'Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM)' and then download the diagnostic utilities from intel.
I also have tried to user virtualbox with some PLC equipment with no success.
